I caught the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the Tate Modern back in 2005. Tracing her life—which included marrying Diego Rivera and an affair with Leon Trotsky—in her paintings after her serious traffic accident in her teens was an impressing experence. Surrealism founder André Breton described Kahlo’s art as a “ribbon around a bomb”.
