Apple fanatic spotted already queuing up for the new iPhone 8 (telegraph.co.uk).
“The new iPhone has not even been unveiled yet, but that hasn’t deterred one iPhone super fan from already getting in line for one. Mazen Kourouche, who describes himself as an iPhone ‘fanatic’, has been spotted already queuing up outside an Apple store in Australia today.”
But is it really as much about being on of the first to get the new iPhone or being seen to be one of the first, any surface over substance being king in the Insta-era (theguardian.com, Feb. 2015).
“The 20-year-old YouTuber anticipates he’ll have to camp out for around 10 days at the store in George Street, Sydney, to get his hands on the new handset. He plans to do shifts with two friends to ensure they are among the first to purchase the new model. Kourouche, a software engineering student at University of New South Wales, admitted he was mainly lining up so early as it would give him interesting material for his channel. … ‘I’m a YouTuber and I’m recording content live for my viewers. On the day of the launch, I’ll record the unboxing in the store.’ The student uploaded a brief video chronicling his journey to the store and picking up supplies beforehand.”
With no one queuing for more 10 minutes for whatever latest version of an Android phone and even fewer pimping its features on GoogleTube not related to it being open source, non-proprietary albeit rather tied to Google services (GoogleTube) Linux-based digital manna from heaven, especially for botnets (Latest Picks 30th August 2017).
With smartphone having taking over from tablets (theguardian.com, Feb. 2015) so you can be seen doing all the more fingers as crabs claws manipulations to make site or image viewable without squinting without opting for the invariably dumbed down mobile or app version while strolling around and tripping up things in Debenhams, the iPhone 8 price is set at £800 to £1,000 in the UK (cnet.com).
The big iPhone 8 changes will likely cost you more than ever (cnet.com).
“Apple on Tuesday is widely expected to launch its next flagship phone, which, if rumors are true, will end up coming as three different models. One—a pricey version commonly dubbed the iPhone 8, iPhone X or iPhone Pro—is expected to feature a radically new design that ditches the home button in favor of facial recognition and gesture controls. It’s also expected to have a fancy new OLED screen and cost upwards of $1,000 compared to the $769 starting price for the iPhone 7 Plus. … Not everyone wants to drop a grand on a phone. The question for the average buyer is whether Apple will do enough with the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus to make you want to upgrade.”
Will, or did, enough enough with the iPhone 7 to make you want to upgrade? With a new iPhone version approximately every two years and climbing price, will an upgrade really appeal to any other than those who simply must have the new, and on the day it comes out, from the brand boutique?

Apple iPhone 8 Plus review (cnet.com).
“The Bottom Line: The iPhone 8 Plus is a superlative phone with a spectacular camera, but wait for the upcoming iPhone X before buying: it promises to fold all of the key features of the 8 Plus into a smaller, sexier package.”
