Whatever’s on my mind really.

A peek at illustration inspiring celebrity sexiness, quirky news stories from inherently pornified pop culture, tips, sketchbook and work in progress, reviews and other things of interest; whatever’s on my mind really—which more fool you if you ever take that seriously.

Latest Picks is a sort of mini-blog for daily thoughts and picks. Longer articles, stories & sketches are found in the full-size blog, where indeed Latest Picks are moved when updates to a story make it too large.

Note: Both Latest Picks and Blog are to be retired at the end of September, although both will remain available indefinitely as an archived part of the site. No further updates to past stories will be made.

I was never a huge fan myself, but I know plenty that are and…indeed, even the doves are crying. Yeah, “iconic” really was the word.

Prince dies at 57: artist who ‘rewrote the rulebook’ found dead at US home (telegraph.co.uk).

“Prince, the pioneering musician, has died at his home at the age of 57, days after being rushed to hospital after falling ill on tour. The singer, real name Prince Rogers Nelson, was confirmed dead at Paisley Park, Minnesota, the estate where he lived and worked in a recording studio, after his body was found unresponsive. Fans laid purple flowers on Thursday around the compound in tribute as they flocked to console one another, with musicians around the world hailing Prince and his legacy.”

A legend was lost today…

Prince was treated for a “drug overdose” six days before his death (dailystar.co.uk).

“The singer’s private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Illinois last Friday just hours after a performance in Atlanta. His representatives said he was battling the flu, however there were questions about the truth of that as his plane was reportedly just 48 minutes away from home. … Multiple sources in Moline, where the plane made the unscheduled stop, told TMZ the icon was rushed to a hospital where he was given a ‘save shot’ … given by doctors to counteract the effects of an opiate.”

Seemingly determined to prove that rock is the new conservatism:

Gene Simmons

Kiss’ Gene Simmons: “Prince’s death was pathetic” (dailymail.co.uk).

“The 66-year-old KISS singer-and-bassist has branded Prince’s death as ‘pathetic’ because he ‘slowly killed himself with drugs and alcohol,’ he told Newsweek Europe. Gene has said he has no sympathy for anyone who dies from a drug overdose because he believes it was their ‘choice’.”

Indeed, and poor ol’ Motörhead’s Lemmy didn’t with Jack Daniels and speed (Latest Picks 29th Dec. 2015), albeit having the constitution of a rhino allowing him to stick two fingers up and grinningly well frustrate the reaper for a long, long bloody time.
