It’s party conference time for UK political parties, but in the lead up and on the day, following on from Labour donor threats to up the ante by diverting their pennies to a different pot and disaffected Tory donor kiss n’ tell (Latest Picks 21st Sept. 2015), it’s perhaps time again to recall that it’s millionaire donors that seemingly drive—or at least aim to—the political bang bus.
UKIP’s MP and biggest donor in public spat (news.sky.com).
“A row has exploded between UKIP’s biggest donor Arron Banks and the party’s only MP Douglas Carswell. Mr Carswell earlier confronted Mr Banks at UKIP’s annual conference over suggestions the donor has been involved in an attempt to deselect him. After the clash, Mr Banks told Sky News the Clacton MP is ‘borderline autistic with some mental illness attached’.”
Ouch! Somebody’s donating didn’t get their way or the bus banging did it.
“He later apologised for the comment.”
Which is all right then, bringing it into the realm of those “home truths” spilled you apologies for after one too many Stella’s at the Rendezvous Casino at a kipper night out down the Kursaal in Southend-on-Sea that the party involved has to pretend that’s not what you really think of them.
